My first and likely last attempt at a dA stamp. D: And its message is rare coming from me because I'm spineless.
I noticed there are a few artists who go into an all-out rage, posting multiple high-pitched lengthy rants and angry deviations, and over what?
Their deviation was deemed borderline mature (a sexy pose in underwear or whatever), so the admins stepped in and put a mature tag on their picture. Oh dear God no, not a mature tag! dA didn't even take the image down and the artists piss themselves. Sissy-pansies.
Not to mention other artists who post something that's blatantly against dA policy (like that picture where a woman !@#$@# %$# her &^%# all over %$#@# toothbrush) and then go berserk when it gets taken down because "it's just a parody" or "I'm being denied my freedom of speech!"
The point is this:
Welcome to the internet. Here, free speech applies when the admin of a site says it does. You're not in the middle of the street, you're on someone's private property. If you don't like how they run their website, go somewhere else. Find a host with favorable rules or host your own site.
They set up this site for you to use -- they'll enforce it however they damn well please and you can either be thankful for it or park your whiny ass somewhere else. If you want to disagree or convince admins to change the rules, at least do it with some shred of respectability and dignity instead of all the "WAAAWAA UNFAIR I'M BEING OPPRESSED" idiocy.
tl;dr - Rules are rules. Their site, their rules. Deal.
There's not much I can say about this other than how much I agree with you. I am so sick of people crying about artistic expression when no one's actually stopping them from making the pictures or even stopping them from posting them on sites that allow them.

I agree with you. I think the mature content tags are a very good thing. And i get really irate when people rant about how their image is artistic and that the site is oppressing them by goodness forbid marking it with a tag to let people know it contains nudity. I just hate the mentality that people think that just because they're okay with nudity that everyone should be society doesn't work that way, and their are some people out their who simply want to avoid looking at it, people should try to respect them. plus dA does need incentives to get people to join the site. not allowing people to see all the sites content unless they join is one of them.
I've seen people from the other side getting aggressive lately too. Like people report something that they think is porn, dA disagrees and doesn't remove it, so then they go and post rants about the work, and the artist, even though dA said it was acceptable, or go report it over and over and over with no extra evidence against why it should be removed.
Sure people can protest the rules and try to influence admin to alter them. But in the end dA's a business, and like any art gallery anywhere in the world, they reserve the right to decide what they display within their walls. As long as it's not breaking the law of course.
If people want true freedom they should build their own site for their portfolio. Then they might begin to understand that much of dA's rules are actually in place because of the law in the first place.
Sooo true! It's like people who think they can steal art or music, since the CD or art is "too expensive to buy" and they act like they have a right to just HAVE it. Uh, hello: welcome to Earth, where if you don't want to pay for it, don't buy it.
Bravo on the stamp! :cheer:

I agree with the message of the stamp. None of us HAVE to be here, and to bitch and moan about the rules is absolutely childish. If anyone wants to do that, they ought to just leave. It's not right to bring down others for enjoying the site when that person cannot.
If someone hates it so much, that person should go make his/her OWN site so that that person could set up his/her OWN rules.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm featuring a little part of the deviant community ! Asked few days ago, and requested everyone to show me their 3 favourites photos in their own gallery, and the 3 most popular!

I know some who must deal with DA admns actions, even if they disagree
